An explosive start to the year

Germany’s fund market started 2018 where it left off last year, with sales in long-term funds topping the €4bn mark in January. Mixed assets received the most flows, followed by the 'other' category, which was supported by enhanced money market funds. The equity class also recorded an excellent start to the year, but sales here were strongly underpinned by demand for exchange traded funds. The property category had a buoyant start too, while bonds – though improving against the previous month – continued to struggle.
