Positive but in retreat

UK investors remained positive in February despite global volatility and the slump in the UK stock market. However, retail and institutional investors appear to have been travelling in somewhat different directions. Both Broadridge and Investment Association (IA) data showed net investment in funds. But while Broadridge’s wider data set shows this was mainly due to equity flows, with bond and mixed asset funds both suffering redemptions, the IA’s figures showed that UK retail investors made net withdrawals from equity and bond funds, but maintained their support for mixed asset products.
