ETF distribution disruption

Whether you view the growing footprint of ETFs as an opportunity or a threat to your business, their adoption, particularly among retail investors, is set to accelerate in the wake of Mifid 2. While the regulatory focus on fee transparency pushed the cost of investing under the spotlight, Mifid 2 was a double-edged sword for passive brands, with price alone no longer viewed as a distinct differentiator of product choice. Active and passive players alike must deliver value-for-money propositions and this will add pressure on passive groups that have previously focussed only on costs.
